What Does the Shema Teach Us During the Omer?

 

In a profound teaching, Nachman of Breslov, draws a striking parallel between the Shema Israel and the 49 days of the Omer.

The Shema contains 49 words, just as the Omer spans 49 days.

This is no coincidence.

It is an invitation.

And what does the Shema tell us?

“Listen, Israel…”

Listen deeply. Internalize. Feel.

Everything that happens to you ,  absolutely everything, every detail, even the smallest one, every encounter, even the most ordinary, every challenge, every joy, every delay, every frustration, every unexpected turn… all of it is willed, guided, and shaped by HaShem.

Nothing is random.
Nothing is accidental.
Nothing escapes Him.

Every situation you experience is precisely tailored to your soul, your path, and who you are meant to become.

Even what you do not understand.
Even what resists you.
Even what hurts.

There is no secondary source.
No other origin.
No independent force.

Not a person.
Not a circumstance.
Not “chance.”

Everything comes from one single source.

Ehad ,  One.

And within that absolute oneness lies a truth that is sometimes difficult to perceive, yet always present:

Everything is deeply… tov.

Mikhal
